Quinn Sullivan Named to Team of the Matchday 9
Sullivan Earns Second MLS Team of the Matchday Nod, First Since Matchday 2 vs. FC Cincinnati
For the second time this season, Quinn Sullivan has been named to MLS’ Team of the Matchday. His one goal and one assist in the Union’s 3-0 win over Atlanta United earned him a spot in the starting XI for Matchday 9.
Sullivan scored in the 27th minute to give the Union a 1-0 lead, marking his first goal of the season. In the 84th minute, he provided an assist when Tai Baribo headed home Sullivan’s cross.
He has been a staple in head coach Bradley Carnell’s starting XI, starting all nine games, scoring one goal, and assisting four in 755 minutes. He is currently tied for third in MLS for big chances created with six and tied for third in chances created with 23.
Sullivan was named to the bench during Matchday 2 for his two assists against FC Cincinnati in the Union’s 4-1 win.
Sullivan’s appearance in Team of the Matchday breaks a four-week drought for the Union, with Ian Glavinovich being the last Union player to receive the honors during Matchday 5 against St. Louis CITY.
Sullivan Wins MLS’ Goal of the Matchday
With his goal against Atlanta, Sullivan was nominated for MLS’ Goal of the Matchday alongside LAFC’s Olivier Giroud, Chicago Fire’s Hugo Cuypers, and DC United’s João Peglow.
MLS leaves the voting to fans on Twitter. With 1,426 votes cast, Sullivan finished first with 36.2% of the votes, followed by Peglow with 31.3%, Giroud with 26.2%, and Cuypers with 6.3%.
