"Who doesn't love José Martinéz?" Well, Jim, one of my seat mates hates him with a vitriol that often surprises me. How I wish she would listen to all of these heartfelt plaudits he's getting and change her mind!
For all of his years with the Union, José has been a favorite of mine. But, I didn't even realize until the news of his leaving hit us just how MUCH I loved him and relied upon him to bring his talent AND his humor and passion on and off the pitch. I don't have any jerseys with names on them, but I NEED to get a Martinez jersey. I have been disappointed about other players who left, but this one hurts and has brought many tears to my eyes.
Couldn’t go wrong with a Martínez. I feel like I should get a Bedoya one before the end of the season because of what he’s meant to the club. Jim talks about there never being another Martínez, there will NEVER be another Bedoya. One of my favorite USMNT players too.
My family has a tradition of naming our cats after USMNT players (even our girl cat is named for one of them--Jozy!) We have already picked Alejandro as the name for our next kitty.
