Goals Breakdown: Inter Miami v Philadelphia Union (9/14/24)

Just like their game against the New York Red Bulls two weeks ago, the Union opened the scoring within the first five minutes, thanks to Mikael Uhre. The Union had a few more chances in the first half to go up by multiple goals, but they weren't able to find the back of the net. Inter Miami capitalized on their first two shots on target, with two goals from Lionel Messi, bringing his MLS total to 17 goals this season, tied for the second most in the league. The Union had a couple of chances in the second half with Sam Adeniran, which could have tied the game at 2-2, but they weren't able to capitalize. Luis Suárez added the dagger in the 98th minute, making the score 3-1. The Union now sit in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, three points behind D.C. United for the final playoff spot, with a game in hand and six games remaining in the regular season.

Goal Scorers:

PHI: Uhre 2'

MIA: Messi 26'

MIA: Messi 30'

MIA: Suarez 90+'8
