After a long month off due to Leagues Cup play, the Philadelphia Union resumed their MLS campaign Wednesday night against the Columbus Crew. Columbus fielded a heavily rotated squad from their match on Sunday against LAFC in the Leagues Cup final, while the Union made three changes from the team that faced the Colorado Rapids in their third-place game. The Union came close to scoring in the first half, with Tai Baribo and Quinn Sullivan hitting the post and crossbar, but that was as close as they would get. Yaw Yeboah, one of Columbus' second-half substitutes, scored in the 75th minute to put the Crew up 1-0. This loss marked the Union's first in three MLS games and their first home defeat to Columbus since 2015.
Goal Scorers:
