Anderson & Carnell Named to Team of the Matchday 19
Anderson becomes the 10th different Union player to earn Team of the Matchday honors for his game-winning goal against Charlotte FC.
MLS announced the Team of the Matchday for Matchday 19, with Philadelphia Union having two selections: Markus Anderson and head coach Bradley Carnell.
Anderson made his 2025 Union debut on Saturday in the Union’s 2-1 win over Charlotte. This marked his first appearance with the first team since June 19, 2024, against FC Cincinnati, where he was responsible for a giveaway that led to Cincinnati’s 4-3 victory.
Anderson entered the game in the 57th minute and scored the game-winning goal in the 98th minute. That goal marked his first career goal with the first team. He registered 13 passes, completed 4 out of 7 passes, and won 4 out of 7 aerial duels.
Bradley Carnell earned his second Team of the Matchday honor of the season, his first since Matchday 2 against FC Cincinnati.
The Union set a club record on Saturday, extending their unbeaten run to 10 games. The Union also improved to 11-3-4, with 37 points, two points ahead of the Vancouver Whitecaps for first place in the Supporters’ Shield standings.
